What is worse than before, its fine here... can you show me some screenshots?
I will do my best to fix it but it all has been changed except both INI files in the "Data" folder.

Then the problem is staring you in the face: you forgot to add the english offsets and sprite files.

I did'nt forget to alter the offsets its 60 percent different than the old offsets and I am trying to figure which is different, so if anyone else wants to lend a hand and post the new offsets here you can.
In my first post I said its all you guys, and if I have time to do it I will give it a go then.
Edit: My main goal was to fix the actual editor in english, not the offsets that's not a top priority my editor is though.

Well the offsets and sprites in the .zip file you posted are in japanese.
Here's the english ones:

Is that the new offsets and not the old one from version 0.0.3?

That's the one I used! It makes the levels in the edit level names blank!

Yeah, Thats the old offsets.
That's the one I used! It makes the levels in the edit level names blank!
Edit: Thats because the old offsets do not have the new data required to show that, The offsets and sprite INI's need a new makeover and written from scratch.

edevore wrote:Is that the new offsets and not the old one from version 0.0.3?
Yes, the new one.
The offsets make the names of everything (sprites, level names, BGs) show up in their drop down lists. The dkEdit application has no control over it. The people that made dkEdit put typed them in japanese, and we translated them to english.

I know but, "Version 0.0.3" Is way different than "Version 0.0.4" because the layout is different and alot of the varibles have been altered too.
Some forms dont know what to do with the old INI's because they are looking for the new INI's!

The only forms that dont work are the "Levels Name" and "Kongs Dialog" where I cant seem to find where it is.

Try to remove your old configuration setting, Goto "Config" - in "Config" delete - "application.ini" and reopen the program.

Are you using the correct rom?
This one works for me,
- Code: Select all
Donkey Kong Country (U) (V1.0) [!]
.
Anyway I am updating the program and its forms (not much will change though.) so it will take some time to finish.
Let me ask you a question, Do you see text or is it totally blank?

1. I guess:
Donkey_Kong_Country__U___V1.0_____.smc
2. I can see "garbage" text.

Then its good... In a way, Anyway we have'nt figured out what all text is.. yet but we are working on it, The program itself is fine it is just the INI's that needs changed.

So close with the Level names and Kong text! The letters are scrambled.
And, is it just me, or I can edit Coral levels and Slipside Ride?

It works PERFECTLY for me!

You did a great job translating all that stuff. Now I don't have to spend a whole day having to see what happens when I activate something. So far I don't see anything bad about it, but I've only begun exploring it, but I'll be sure to check!

I already knew that, its not my fault I just translated the program... I already know about "Coral Capers" but not the other.
I am not advanced at C++ so I really cant fix it, even if I started to build it from scratch on my own.
When a new version of dkEdit comes out I will translate that too and plus another after that, Plus Another, Plus Another, And Another.
Whats After That...?
Edit: If you guys/girls keep an eye on the dkEdit pages and there is an update, you'll know I'll be updating dkEdit too!:
Here (Japanese)Edit 2: Ok this is the best that I can do for the "offset.ini" file, it still wont work right but is translated (Well sort of!).

I am looking into the "kongs dialog" form and I will try to fix the problem that you're having.
Ok, Those dialogs are still under development as well as the "Show Triggers" action, I have disabled them so no one gets upset trying to use an unfinished form.
The download link will be in my first post, Done!

2. I can't see bananas (the option to see bananas is on)
Still, great job on translating it!

You need to remove your old configuration setting to fix banana's, Goto Folder "Config" in "Config" delete "application.ini".
DKCplayer wrote: I can't edit Slipslide Ride OR the water levels
Those levels are not done in version 0.04 maybe version 0.05 or later.
Donkey King wrote:YOU DISABLED LEVEL AND KONG TEXT EDITING?!
I have added a option to enable those items in the update in the first post.
The option is called "Support->Settings->Advanced Mode"
I also added an option to view your own CHM help document, just replace it with another.
You all may distribute the program and you may also modify files in the program and then distribute them, but please dont distribute copies of the source unless you altered them.

I am not really sure why, I am sorry that this happened to you.

I also have ZSnes and i'm not having this problem, could you explain on more thats happening "Donkey King"?
Sorry again, Evin DeVore.

edevore wrote:Okay, This may be my final update and I can no longer think of things that may need updating...
You could add things that weren't in the original version. For exmple...
-It would be nice if you could move the colored squares by dragging them with the mouse.
-Only the in-game songs are in the music list. The main theme, Funky's Flights, Candy's Save Point, etc. aren't listed.
-Being able to right-click a tile to see all the tiles that would match up to it.
-Undo and Redo buttons.
-Making a picture of the object show up instead of those red squares.

Kong-Fu wrote:-Being able to right-click a tile to see all the tiles that would match up to it.
Difficult and time-consuming to do. I do plan on doing this for DKCRE, but I do know that it's quite cumbersome
(in fact I want DKCRE to be able to auto-build tiles based around a physmap. wooo, will that be useful once I get it implemented!).Kong-Fu wrote:-Undo and Redo buttons.
Could probably be accomplished by keeping a list of all preformed actions, what the data was like before, etc. If anyone implements undo/redo, it should be able to undo MORE THAN THREE THINGS.
Kong-Fu wrote:-Making a picture of the object show up instead of those red squares.
I have some pieces of code that could accomplish this -- however, the code would likely not work because I'm not using Borland compiler (which isn't exactly standard anyway, it does have some proprietary non-C++ functions/code/classes/etc). I don't understand the way the files are structured, either.
EDevore, nice effort for a translated version...

Moving things with a mouse is really easy (as far as I know), and the music is self-explanatory (all you need to do is change the digit).
Giangurgolo has a document on music digits, just use that...
DKC Rom Documents | Music BytesEDIT: Also, see
this info on my ZM-Patch.

Those have only 2 digits. In dkEdit there's 4.

Oh, I see you meant the individual level music digits. The information used for my Z-M Patch is accurate... just take the last two bytes of the PAR offset
(without the ?? byte) minus 1, and you have the music pointer which would be used for an individual level.
If you want to modify the music of all levels of an entire archetype, then you simply go to that place in a hex editor, and change the byte to modify the music for that type of level.
See here, copied from that thread for convenience:

Ok its about time for me to get to work and update "DKC Edit" (the english version!) so in the next two days I will be busy.
To add sprites to the game in "DKC Edit" you must use an existing one and change the location x,y plus the type of object.
I will update the top post when I am ready for the update release link.

dkclover1337 - Please use proper spelling and grammar. This is not an instant messaging session.
The rules specifically state:
"Avoid using internet abbreviations, such as "lol" as part of your regular vocabulary here. They are silly."You will not get many more chances, so I advise you to
read the rules and follow them well.
Edevore - DO NOT edit posts which have already been replied to [Especially "deleting" them via editing]. This is ridiculous. You're going to confuse the heck out of everyone if you keep doing that. Even though dkclover1337 needs to work on his spelling and grammar, it seems that you have confused him, as well as me.
